Sign in with multi-factor authentication

When your organisation uses multi-factor authentication (MFA), you enter a one-time code from an authenticator app on your phone each time you sign in to Storyteq CMP. This page explains how to set up your authenticator the first time, sign in with a code, and get back in if you lose your phone.

If you sign in through your company’s single sign-on, Storyteq CMP doesn’t ask you for a code, because your company’s sign-in already checks who you are.

Before you begin

Install an authenticator app on your phone from your app store, for example Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, or FreeOTP. Every app that works is listed in Authenticator apps.

Set up your authenticator

The first time you sign in after your organisation turns on MFA, you link your authenticator app to your account. If you’re already signed in when MFA is turned on, you’re sent to this setup within about 5 minutes instead. You only do this once.

  1. Open Storyteq CMP, enter your email address in Email, and select Next.

  2. Enter your password and select Sign In.

The Mobile Authenticator Setup screen appears, with a QR code.

  3. In your authenticator app, add an account, usually with an Add account or + button, and scan the QR code.

If you can’t scan the code, select Unable to scan? instead. The screen displays a text key: type it into your app. If the app asks for settings, use Type: time-based, Algorithm: SHA1, Digits: 6, and Interval: 30. To return to the QR code, select Scan barcode?.

  4. In One-time code, enter the six-digit code your app displays.

The app lists the new entry as storyteq.com, and some apps, such as Google Authenticator, add your email address.

  5. In Device Name, enter a name you’ll recognise for your phone, for example My phone.

  6. Optionally, select Sign out from other devices to sign out of Storyteq CMP everywhere else when you finish.

This signs you out on every other browser, computer, and phone where you’re signed in, and you’ll need a code to sign in on each one again. Select it if you think someone else may be using your account; otherwise, leave it clear.
  7. Select Submit.

You’re signed in, and your account is linked to your phone.

Sign in with a code

Once your authenticator is set up, every sign-in asks for the current code from your app.

  1. Open Storyteq CMP, enter your email address, and select Next.

  2. Enter your password and select Sign In.

  3. Open your authenticator app and find the current six-digit code for storyteq.com.

  4. Enter the code in One-time Code and select Sign In.

The app displays a new code every 30 seconds. If Invalid authenticator code. appears, the code was mistyped or had expired: wait for the next code and enter it.

After you sign in, you stay signed in on that browser for up to 30 days. You’re asked for your password and a code again when you sign out, switch to a different browser or device or a private window, or clear your browser’s cookies. On a shared or public computer, always sign out when you finish.

Get back in after losing your phone

Without your authenticator app, you can’t generate codes. This happens if you lose or replace your phone, or delete the app. To get back in, ask your administrator to reset your one-time password (OTP), then set up your authenticator again.

  1. Follow steps 1 and 2 of Sign in with a code to reach the code screen.

  2. Select I can’t find my code, next to the One-time Code field.

  3. Select Request OTP reset.

A confirmation appears, and your request is emailed to the address your organisation uses for reset requests.

  4. Wait for your administrator to reset your one-time password.

A person handles each request, so the reset isn’t instant. If it’s urgent, contact your administrator directly.

  5. In your authenticator app, delete the old storyteq.com entry. Its codes no longer work after the reset.

  6. Sign in again.

The Mobile Authenticator Setup screen appears. Follow the steps in Set up your authenticator to link your new phone.

Forgot your password? on the password screen resets your password only. It doesn’t reset your authenticator.

If OTP reset isn’t set up for your account yet. Please contact your admin directly. appears when you request a reset, your request wasn’t sent. Contact your administrator directly instead.
